Bloober Team is still working on a PS5 Pro patch for Silent Hill 2 to improve performance.

The horror game remake received a patch for Sony’s more powerful console last year, but players were quick to point out technical issues across social media. A patch was released two weeks after the console’s release addressing graphical glitches, but issues have remained.

Players have been left waiting for further improvements, with fans on reddit presuming the studio had given up on fixes. But a Bloober has confirmed to Eurogamer it’s still working to improve performance.

In a statement to Eurogamer, Bloober said: “We’re working with the publisher on a solution and will share more details as soon as we have them.”

It’s unknown when a solution will be patched in, but it’s comforting to know it is being worked on after all. We’ll of course keep you updated.

In its technical review of Silent Hill 2 on PS5 Pro, Digital Foundry stated it had “glaring image stability issues not found on the standard PlayStation 5”, as well as “troubled PSSR upscaling implementation”.

Said one player at launch: “It’s really scummy to advertise a game as Pro Enhanced when it actually plays worse than the base unit.”

Still, the game itself received a positive reaction from critics. “Against the odds, Bloober Team has delivered a remake that both expands Silent Hill 2 in just the right places, and gives careful attention to what it preserves,” reads our Eurogamer Silent Hill 2 review.

It went on to sell a million copies in under a week.
